Gail Dicks – Owner/Lead Designer
Creativity is something that was bred into me from an early age. My mother, an avid crafter, was always doing some sort of creative hobby and allowed me to dabble around with her.
I always dreamt of working in fashion, I fantasized about living in New York City and working in fashion shows. But, life happens. And in a really good way sometimes. I married the man of my dreams (he was my first crush at the age of 5, really!), followed him wherever his military career took us, and we have 3 amazing, smart, and beautiful children together.
After suffering from severe postpartum anxiety following the birth of my first child, with encouragement from my husband, I went on the search for a hobby. I already knew the basics of how to sew and I had a beautiful baby girl to sew for so it felt like the natural choice for me. Having this outlet, making something amazing from a simple piece of fabric, it gave me purpose. It saved me at a time when I felt like I was barely surviving.
Thank you for supporting my creative dreams.

Sewing is a big part of my life now and has always been special to me. My mom taught me how to sew when I was younger and she sewed all of my and my sisters’ prom dresses. The memories of hanging out with her in her bedroom while she sewed are some of my favorites.
Fast forward to adult life and I graduated college, married an amazing man, moved to Dubai (and have now been here for 12 years), and had the most amazing daughter I could have ever imagined. While I still enjoyed sewing, I never seemed to find the time. Then – COVID. As many others did, the lockdowns gave me a reason to rediscover my hobby and my daughter gave me the perfect model to sew for.
It also became my way to handle stress. During the day I manage a construction company, and while I love it, it can be quite stressful! Now, I don’t go more than a couple of days without sewing. Sewing is my way to destress and my creative outlet and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Lindsey Tuskes – Designer + Email Marketing Manager
Born in Buffalo, NY, but I spent enough of my formative years in Charleston, SC that it also feels like home. I met my husband after moving home to Buffalo 17 years ago and I guess the rest is history.
We have 9-year-old triplets who obviously keep us incredibly busy, but also keep us laughing non-stop. I studied culinary and theater arts in school, so there is no shortage of baked goods and drama around the Tuskes household. Especially since my mini-me, Abby, has shown quite the flare for drama herself. I didn’t really find “my thing” until my husband gifted me a sewing machine for my first Mother’s Day. It probably took me a year to even open the box, but once I did, I never looked back. Before joining Boo and Lu, I ran a successful handmade clothing shop and I am absolutely thrilled to be back in the sewing business and working with such a talented team.

Hey there, I’m Jackie! I’m originally from AZ and now living in NC. I’m married to my best friend and we have 3 wonderful kids (our son and twin daughters)!
I have always loved anything: diy, photography, sewing and crafts! When my twin daughters were one year’s old they both developed PCDH19 epilepsy and I needed a distraction because I was devastated, so I started to teach myself how to sew. I never imagined I would grow to love it so much or that it would help so much mentally. It’s such an amazing creative outlet and stress reliever for me!
I mainly sew for my kids (especially my twins) but I have been trying to sew more for myself and husband recently too. Working with knit fabrics is my favorite but I do also love a good occasional woven dress!

Before having our daughters, I worked full-time alongside my husband riding horses and teaching horsemanship at our small ranch in the PNW. After becoming a mom, I stepped back from the long hours out in the barn to raise our daughters (now 7 and 5), and that is when I began sewing- and I was immediately hooked. I went from sewing a few things to sewing their entire wardrobes and more, and can’t imagine ever stopping. I’m still riding too, but now I have the joy and creativity of sewing when I’m not outside. Even better, I get to share my love of sewing with my daughters who are both learning (and loving!) sewing now too.
