Looking for the perfect fit for your next make? This is the official Boo and Lu adult sewing pattern size chart, designed to help you create garments that fit beautifully and feel amazing.
On this page, you’ll find measurement charts for our adult sewing patterns in both inches and centimeters, plus tips on how to measure accurately and confidently. Whether you’re new to sewing or a seasoned pro, we’ve got your sizing questions covered.
How to Measure for Adult Sewing Patterns
Use a soft tape measure, stand naturally, and measure snugly without pulling tight.
- Upper Bust: Measured around the chest, right under the armpits and above the breasts.
- Full Bust: Measured at the fullest part of the bust, typically across the nipple line. Take this measurement while wearing the bra you’ll wear with the garment.
- Waist: Measured at the natural waist — the smallest part of your torso, right at the bottom of your rib cage and just above the belly button.
- Hip: Measured around the fullest part of your hips/buttocks, with feet together.
- Trunk (Girth): Starting at one shoulder, bring the tape down the front of your body, through the crotch, and back up to the same shoulder to form a full loop.
💡 Tip: All Boo and Lu adult patterns are drafted for a height of 5’5″ (165 cm). If you’re taller or shorter, check the pattern tutorial for tips on adjusting length.
Cup Size Information
Boo and Lu adult patterns are drafted for sewing cup sizes A–D. These are not the same as your ready-to-wear bra cup size.
Instead, calculate your sewing cup size based on the difference between your full bust and upper bust measurements:

If your cup size is above a B, you may need to make a Full Bust Adjustment (FBA). If it’s below a B, consider a Small Bust Adjustment (SBA). Our newer patterns, like the Adult Sable Top and Jumper, include separate bodice pieces for cup sizes A–D.

Tips for Choosing the Right Size
- Always choose size based on body measurements, not store-bought sizes.
- If your measurements fall between sizes, we recommend grading between sizes.
- Our patterns include ease, so the finished garment will not match body measurements exactly. We include detailed ease and fit info in each pattern’s tutorial.
