FREE Bunny Plush Pattern
Spring is here, and it brings to mind growing flowers, warming sunshine, and baby animals. Bunnies and chicks are quintessential images for this time of year, and with Easter approaching I wanted to sew my kids some new little stuffies. I decided on a cute fluffy little bunny plush stuffie and I love how it turned out!
Today I have a FREE bunny plush pattern and tutorial for you. The pattern is printable, and the step by step instructions with pictures will help you sew this darling bunny, even if you are a total beginner at sewing.

Let’s sew a bunny stuffie!
Materials and supplies
- 1/2 yard fabric for bunny
- Scraps of fabric for applique, if desired
- Heat n Bond lite for the applique
- Polyfil stuffing
- Pins/clip, needle, coordinating thread
- Pompom for optional tail
Printable Pattern
The printable pattern pdf contains 3 pages. Align the lettered circles in the corner so they match, and tape together. Then, cut out the pieces.
The bunny body piece has a SOLID cutting line, as well as a DASHED sewing line. It is very important to transfer the stitching line to the WRONG side of one of the bunny body pieces. Because of the curves of the bunny, it will give MUCH better results if you have that line to follow, particularly if you are working with a slippery fabric like faux-fur.

Cut out your pieces according to instruction on the printable pattern. Make sure to mark the stitch line on the WRONG side of at least one of the bunny body pieces.

Apply ear, eye, nose, and belly applique to bunny body front if desired, using your preferred technique. I suggest applying heat n bond lite to the wrong side of the applique pieces, adhering to the body, then topstitching.

Place the bunny front and back body pieces right sides together. Pin/clip. If your fabric slips a lot, like faux fur, use lots of pins/clips! Sew, leaving an opening at the bottom 3″ long. Stitch directly on the marked line. At each inner point, drop the needle, lift the presser foot, and rotate the fabric. This will give beautiful lines and curves.

At each point where the curves point inward (marked with green lines in photo above), clip directly into the V point without cutting the seam. This will give perfect inward points when you turn right side out. Clip notches into the curves using pinking shears or by cutting a series of little notches. See tips on notching seam allowances here!

Turn right side out. Use a turning tool or chopstick to gently poke out the ears and curves, making sure you do not poke a hold through the seam.

Stuff the bunny. Use small amounts of stuffing at a time, working it all the way up to the ears. Then work your way down the body. Do not skimp on stuffing! You need plenty to fill out the body and curves. When you finish stuffing, really push the bottom part of the stuffing up the body a bit, so it is easier to work with the unsewn seam allowance.

Tuck the unsewn seam allowance into the body, and hand stitch shut using an invisible ladder stitch. Then squish the body some to redistribute the stuffing evenly.

Hand stitch a pompom to the back of the bunny for a cute little tail.
