A new swimsuit/leotard pattern from Annelaine Patterns

Yesterday was the release of the new Honey Bee pattern over at Annelaine. This pattern has the option to be made as a lined swimsuit, and unlined swimsuit, a lined leotard, or an unlined leotard. There is a super cute deep cut out back with the option to add 6 back straps.

No magical fairies needed

Little Miss Lu is starting gymnastics in 9 days so she is in dire need of some adorable leotards. Cue the magical sewing fairies to make lots of adorable leo’s in the next week. Just kidding. No magical fairies here, just one ambitious (and super tired) mama. But that’s okay! This new pattern makes sewing a leotard or swimsuit for the first time as easy as having magical fairies to sew for you. Okay, okay, maybe not that easy. But it’s about as easy as you can get without magical creatures doing your dirty work.

Straps upon straps upon straps

When I first saw the back on the Honey Bee pattern by Annelaine I immediately fell in love with that strappy back. For this version I decided to go for 3 straps rather than all 6, how many you do is completely up to you!

What’s the final verdict?

Did it look like the line drawings and/or photos in the pattern? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, full photo tutorial, which includes a thorough grading guide. It even includes instructions on grading for trunk length!

What is your favorite feature in this pattern? That strappy back!

Is there anything that you disliked about this pattern? No. This pattern sewed up very easily with easy to follow, clear, and concise instructions.

Fabric Used: For this leotard I used Cotton Lycra from Miss Mac Fabrics on Facebook as well as Riley Blake Fabrics black striped knit from Spun Honey Fabrics.

Final Conclusions: This is the perfect pattern for a beginner to use for their first swimsuit or leotard project.
