Hey friends!
Today is my stop on the Riley Blake Designs Tie Dye Project Tour!
Tie Dye is a new collection of knit and cotton prints by the RBD designers! I’m always so excited to see when RBD comes out with new prints in knit because it is one of my favorite fabric bases to sew with.
Each print is stunning in it’s own right, however, I have a favorite. Can you guess? If you guessed the pink (tie dye tonal tea rose), well, that was a really good guess, but you’d be wrong. I normally gravitate towards pastels and pinks but that bright tie dye was calling my name!
Just look how vibrant it is! I cannot begin to express how much I love these bright tie dye colors.
I just knew our Pepper pattern would be PERFECT for this tie dye print.
Pepper is a knit peplum top/dress that also comes with a dropped crotch romper option (which is very trendy right now!) The front bodice features a high front neckline giving you the perfect base for using fabric panels. Pepper’s back bodice features crossing straps and a cross-over design.
My daughter loves twirly dresses, meaning she LOVES circle skirts. Because Pepper does not come with that option I decided to mash Pepper with the Buttercup pattern. Buttercup is also a knit pattern and features a circle skirt in 3 lengths. I cut the circle skirt in dress length for my newly 7 year old. She has declared this dress as her birthday dress for her birthday party this weekend.
When my daughter put on her new dress the first thing she said to me was, “Mommy, thank you so much for choosing a soft fabric!!” We both love the quality of Riley Blake Designs knit fabrics. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wish they offered more of their prints in knit! Not only do they sew so nicely but they hold their color nicely and they wash well.
I really love the way this Pepper and Buttercup mash-up turned out and cannot wait to make so many more!
Thank you Riley Blake Designs once again for an absolutely beautiful collection. It is safe to say that when I need fabric, my first place to go is anywhere that carries RBD.
Tie Dye is available now at your favorite local and online fabric shops.
