Hey friends!
Today is my stop on the Riley Blake Designs Water Mark Project Tour!
Water Mark is a brand new collection by Tammie Green and is inspired by Tammie’s long-time passion for batik silk painting and shibori dyeing techniques.
The color palette features saltwater blues and sandy natural tones in hopes to inspire calmness and relaxing notes of Tammie’s local coastline.
For this project, I chose to work with the main print in light blue. I love how shades of blue make my daughter’s blue eyes pop!
In order to let this stunning fabric shine, I decided to use the simplest version of my newest pattern Nutmeg.
Nutmeg is a sweet vintage-inspired dress with a modern twist. The back features an option back design with a decorative button strap.
There are two elastic options, the tall elastic back which ends at about armpit level, while the short elastic back features only one row of elastic and leaves more open space. I chose the short elastic back for this dress.
We are coming into fall and I wanted to soak up the last few weeks of warm weather while we can!
The front bodice has the option to add a sweet pleated bib, however, I opted for the simple version so that the Water Mark print could shine. I just love the gorgeous florals and didn’t want to cover them up with a bib.
Nutmeg can be made with sleeves as well, featuring the sweetest puff sleeves in short, 3/4, or long length.
I chose to do the simple hem for this look, rather than the pleated hem. Both versions feature a deep 1.75″ hem which makes it perfect for growing. If your child has a growth spurt simply unpick the hem and let it out a little for some added length!
Nutmeg also features an elastic back which makes fitting much easier. Along with being able to easily let out the hem, the elastic will easily stretch to fit through small growth spurts, making Nutmeg the perfect dress for little ones who grow fast!
Thank you Riley Blake Designs once again for an absolutely beautiful collection. It is safe to say that when I need fabric, my first place to go is anywhere that carries RBD.
Water Mark is available now at your favorite local and online fabric shops.
